Developing novel solutions to conservation and management problems

Our research is motivated by real-world conservation management and policy problems.  We specialise in integrating social, economic, and ecological information to develop solutions that improve outcomes for nature and people. We πŸ’™ all things ocean so tend to focus our effort on conserving marine and coastal ecosystems!

Common to all of our research projects is that it’s applied and conducted in partnership with end users.

Our research generally falls into 4 themes: land-sea conservation planning, ocean zoning and protected area design, social equity in conservation, and sustainable seafood.

Our team consists of enthusiastic students, postdocs, and research assistants working on a diverse range of topics in conservation science.

Past team members have gone on to work on exciting projects in a range of institutions around the world! We welcome new students and postdocs keen to join our team – please contact Carissa at c.klein@uq.edu.au to discuss.

The most up-to-date list of our publications is found on Google Scholar, here! We also make an effort to communicate our research with the wider community through popular media.
